A Message from the City of Irvine

The Irvine Police Department (IPD) is seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects involved in multiple residential burglaries that have occurred in the Beacon Park area of Irvine over the last several months. Since the beginning of May, four burglaries and one robbery have occurred in a small area. In each case, unknown suspects smashed a rear sliding glass door to make entry into the home. The items targeted have been cash, jewelry, and safes. The suspects may be casing the neighborhood prior to the crime and generally choose locations where nobody is home.
IPD shared a press release last week regarding the robbery that occurred on June 30 at a residence on Radial. Since that time, IPD detectives have developed additional information that indicates the suspect vehicle is a dark colored Jeep Compass with new paper plates. This vehicle was captured on surveillance video leaving the area after the robbery, but detectives were unable to determine its involvement until today. Detectives continue to investigate this vehicle’s connection to the robbery and other burglaries in the area.
Over the weekend, between Friday, July 2, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, July 4, 2021 at 3:25 p.m., another residential burglary occurred in the same area on Smallwheel. This same home was burglarized in May when it was under different ownership. At this time it is unknown why this home was targeted more than once.
IPD is vigorously investigating these cases and we have increased patrols in the area. We encourage residents to follow these crime prevention tips to avoid being victimized and to assist in our investigation:
- Call IPD immediately at 949-724-7200 if you see any suspicious persons or vehicles or 911 in case of an emergency or a crime in progress
- Get to the know the vehicles in your neighborhood so you can recognize a vehicle that is out of place and call IPD to investigate
- Meet your neighbors and share information with them about any suspicious activity after contacting IPD
- Keep cash, jewelry, and other valuables in a safe deposit box
- If you have an alarm system, ensure it is functioning properly
- If you have a video surveillance system, make sure it is strategically placed, working properly, and share any relevant video with IPD
- Join our Neighborhood Watch program by calling IPD Program Specialist Shiree Lind at 949-724-7193 or emailing: slind@cityofirvine.org
